Since then he has had a few albums out, varying from pure and dark ambient, to drone, and most things in between. His main goal is trying to capture mood and atmosphere in what he does, almost like an aural photograph. His main influences range from Eno, to Bill Nelson, JG Ballard, Harold Budd, David Sylvian and Fripp. He draws his main inspirations from photographs, locations, landscapes and abandoned places, be they industrial or otherwise.
“The Place It Used To Be” is the first release of Cousin Silas under Sucu Music. In his own words: “[The tracks] are all aural sketches of a place I used to go to as a kid. It's basically a small valley, a stream running through it and an old mill that had just closed down not long after we moved there. Very peaceful place”.
